Do I have to pay for the full year upfront?

No — Kompas subscription costs are paid monthly by pre-authorized debit, not as a lump sum at signing. You commit to a one-year minimum term, but the cash leaves in twelve pieces, which keeps the platform inside your operating budget instead of turning it into a capital decision. Transactional fees such as credit applications, leases and payment processing are billed as they are used rather than estimated in advance.

Who pays the transaction fees on rent payments?

Transaction fees on Kompas are paid by the landlord or the property management company, not the tenant. The fees are $1.00 per EFT or pre-authorized debit transaction and $1.50 per Interac e-Transfer, and they sit separately from your per-unit subscription. Because the tenant is never charged to pay rent, adoption of pre-authorized debit and Interac e-Transfer is realistic, which is where the back-office time savings actually come from.

What does Kompas charge per transaction?

EFT and pre-authorized debit transactions cost $1.00 each on Kompas, and Interac e-Transfers cost $1.50 each. Those fees are paid by the landlord or management company and are billed separately from your per-unit subscription. Set against them, operators typically save $2 to $3 per vendor payment compared with cutting cheques manually, and roughly 10 hours a week per property by moving tenants onto pre-authorized debit or Interac e-Transfer.

Are transaction fees marked up and passed on to my tenants?

Tenants are not charged to pay their rent on Kompas — the transaction fee is paid by the landlord or property management company. The published rates are the rates: $1.00 per EFT or pre-authorized debit and $1.50 per Interac e-Transfer, with no per-tenant surcharge layered on top. Keeping the tenant side free is what makes pre-authorized debit adoption realistic across a building, and adoption is where the roughly 10 hours a week per property of savings comes from.

Do I need the Fleet plan to use the open API?

The open API and custom integrations sit on the Fleet plan, which is the premium tier. Every plan can still connect to other tools through Zapier, where Kompas is a registered application, so Gmail, Outlook, Google and thousands of other apps are reachable without Fleet. What Fleet adds is direct API access and a custom integration specced out with the Kompas team for the systems Zapier cannot reach.
