Help Centre
Onboarding runs in four phases: a review of your business process, a merchant application, a data migration, and training delivered in person or remotely. A professional CPA is your onboarding lead through every one of them, making sure data is cleansed and validated and that go-live actually holds. That is a deliberate choice — the person moving your books is a qualified accountant rather than an implementation coordinator following a script.
It depends on the size of your portfolio and the state of your current environment, but a landlord under 100 units is typically live in under 30 days, and a mid-size operator around 500 units in four to six weeks. What moves that timeline most is whether your bank reconciliations, rent roll and renewal management are up to date going in. Our team assesses where you actually stand before quoting you a date, because no two portfolios are alike.
Plan for roughly two to three hours of your key people's time for the business process review, several hours a week for two to three weeks during data migration, and up to six hours of training split between accounting and operations. This is the question we are asked most often, and the honest framing is that switching platforms costs your team real time — the four-phase structure exists to make that time predictable rather than open-ended.
Our team has built migration playbooks for Hopem, Building Stack, QuickBooks, Yardi Breeze, PlexFlow and Proprio, and works with your team to extract data properly from your incumbent system and map it into the Kompas database using our migration tool. We also use the move to scrutinize the data coming out of your old system for accuracy, completeness and validity, which is usually the first time anyone has looked at it closely in years.
Go-live is scheduled at the start of the month so your books cut over cleanly, with a proper cut-off between the old system and the new one. That timing is not administrative preference — a mid-month cutover leaves a partial month split across two sets of records, which is exactly the mess a migration is supposed to avoid. Everything before the cut-off stays in your old system's history; everything after it is in Kompas.
Access is controlled by granular role-based permissions you set as system administrator, scoped both by job function and by the segment of the portfolio a person works in. A maintenance manager reaches service tickets; an accountant reaches receivables, payables and bank reconciliations; a super user reaches everything. Third-party leasing agents and vendors can be given properly scoped accounts at no cost, since seats are unlimited.
Our premium subscription tier carries a 24-business-hour response commitment, and support is reachable by phone, by email and through an online ticketing system. Support hours are 9 to 5 EST, Monday through Friday. An AI-powered live chat is available in the app at any time and hands you to a real person when it cannot answer what you are asking.
